The Founding members of the association have a long history of showing, breeding and promoting a variety of animals over the years, but over recent years, dogs have become the sole focus.

For nearly 10 years now, there has been a bombardment of requests to form a new organisation with a genuine focus on fun, friendly atmosphere. This has arisen out of the frustration felt by many peers, who have entered the showing / breeding / training fraternity with an expectation of finding like-minded people who enjoy each other's company, share ideas and knowledge, and participate in event and functions to provide enjoyment and fundraising opportunities to facilitate shows and competitions for all to enjoy.

Unfortunately, the reality has been somewhat different for many participants, who have complained of falling victim to politics, bitterness, nastiness, and in some cases; unbelievable levels of harassment and threats, even resulting in violence on occasion??!!!!

The Perth Staffordshire Bull Terrier Association Inc. is committed to providing an environment that is completely devoid of this sort of negative experience, and has chosen to distance itself from all other canine bodies, fraternities, organisations, and associations in order to protect itself and its members from such behaviour which we believe has no place in society.

As such, all of the shows and events are family-centric, and offer the members a fun environment where everyone gets to participate. There is no fear of ridicule or criticism, and as a result, no hesitation or reluctance to get involved in case of "doing it wrong".

Our experienced handlers mix among novices to share experience, learn and teach alike, enjoy each other's company, pets and families in a completely safe and positive environment. We also offer the same kinds of awards that you would expect to find a in any canine events such as ribbons, rosettes, certificates and prizes. Our shows encourage adults, kids and dogs of all pedigree or variety (mixed) breeds, to interact with courtesy and mutual respect.

Some of the things we enjoy doing together include:

• Conformation shows for Staffords as well as other pedigree, variety (mixed)breeds
• Agility and Obedience competitions for all dogs
• Fun Days
• Kids' carnivals with lots of fun activities
• Sausage Sizzles and BBQ's
• Dress-up functions (for dogs, humans and sometimes both)
• Social and fundraising functions such as cocktail nights, theme partys, quiz nights, garage sales, auctions etc.

Unfortunately, to keep it a safe and welcoming place, there are some things we simply cannot and will not tolerate:

• Banned Breeds
• Aggressive Dogs
• Aggressive or intimidating people
• Anyone who demonstrates that they would rather cause trouble than contribute to the great atmosphere and culture that we have been fortunate to develop and enjoy.
